Now before I start, I know i am going to get those smart ass people in here who say "oh look another daryl fanboy" or "nope didnt change my mind"..well, just hear me out for a second, you will, however, be contradicting yourself after i teach you about the history of daryl dixon and point out "reasons" why he is hated and prove them to be false.
Daryl first appeared in season 1 after he came back from a hunt. He found out his brother was missing and went beserk. He ended up following the group to the cdc and still acted like a jack ass to everyone.
Season 2: They relocate on a farm where Daryl secludes himself from everyone else and has nothing else to do on the farm (since he has no friends) and ends up looking for Sophia (and merle). By the end of the season, he becames a tad bit more intergrated with the group just because they shared a common enemy "randal" and needed protection.
Season 3: He has become friends with all his group members since months have passed and is now Rick's go to go if he needs shit done. Througout the season we see him doing whatever it takes to keep the group safe and even leaves his own brother because he decided these people were now his family and he couldnt let them down. At the end of the season, he has agreed to let others into his circle by agreeing to bring back the woodbury residents.
Season 4: Daryl has steped up and became one of the leaders of the prison community after rick decided he was stepping down. He was the groups go to guy to go out on runs and to help make decisions. Ultimately, the prison crumbled and Daryl escaped with Beth, who was later kidnapped by Grady Memorial. Daryl tried his damn hardest to find her but couldnt keep up with the vehicle and eventually stumbled upon the claimers. This was a set back to his old ways and he saw that, he just needed protection so he joined up with them. In the end, Daryl was willing to sacrafice himself for Rick, Michonne and Carl by offering himself for the claimers too kill..they escape, only to be trapped in a boxcart owned by cannibals.
Season 5: Daryl is still a main source of muscle in the group..When he sees the car that took beth, he did not hesitate to chase after it and eventually, the set out to go back and retrieve her and carol.. After beths death, he is more quiet and saddend not just because of beths death, but because of evertyhing that has happened (tyreese's death, no dc safety, lack of food, etc.). Now we enter the Alexandria safe zone and season 5 is still going on..
Now, season 5 is on episode 12 right now so we will be getting to alexandria but well stop right here.
Now, people have said that Daryl doesnt have any development or doesnt have any development left: Well, I just proved you wrong. Daryl has had one of the most developed story lines on the show. From his Season 1 ruthless redneck to being a leader of a community in season 4, he has totaly changed since he first appeard and this is what makes him one of the most interesting characters on the show. Now, before anyone says that he doesnt have any story left..well, ill tell you why he does. He now lives in alexandria, hes going to have a hard time fitting in to a community where there are homes, people, jobs..something he really never had before the apocalypse. Were going to see him in an element weve never seen him before and this will be his story, until it is conqured.
Now that ive told you what Daryls story will be about, please tell me what Tara's is? What is Gabriel's story? Michonnes? Maggie? Noah? Oh wait, Noah's story is that we have to wait and see him decide if he will get surgey to fix his leg, which will take three episodes..LOL. All these characters doont have any story left..but wait, you will say"well they will get a story"..well then, how come the same cant be said for Daryl? You cant say that or you would be contradicting your self.
Oh because Daryl takes up screentime? I think Daryl has taken a back seat this entire season and denying that is absolutley laughable. Glenn is getting more screentime, michonne, sasha, maggie..everyone is getting more story time and daryl isnt and guess what, everyone who is getting screen time, their story arcs are complete garbage, how can you blame daryl for that when hes sitting in the background? you cant!
Maggie and Sasha have been sad because both of their siblings have died. So everyone expects this to develop their characters. Okay, by what grieving? Its okay for Maggie and Sasha to grieve but Daryl cant? Why cant Daryl? Hes a human being and has been impacted by these characters as well? Just because hes not related to them doesnt mean he cant be sad about it. If one of your friends died, wouldnt you be sad about it? What if someone told you "of you cant cry because that wasnt your relative". Sounds stupid right? Of course it does. So whoever says Daryl cant be sad about this, sounds exactly like that. Stupid.
And for you comic fans, why is daryl hated so much? You always say, oh comic tyreese and abraham are what daryl was in the comics? Oh yeah, then how come they werent hated just like Daryl is? If daryl is what tyreese and abraham were in the comics, how come he gets shitted on when he does something "super heroy" when those two also did it in the comics? Another contradiction to think about. Jesus is the absolutley epitomey of ridiculos. Hes able to fight off dozens of guys at the same time, LOL. But thats only in the comics right?
Lets make things more relastic by killing off daryl jsut because he is so popular right? well, how about we kill of rick or carl, if were looking to be realistic not even the main characters should be safe. "oh well it's their story" yeah because its a tv show! duh! its a tv show and NOT real! Even if it was to be realistic, your really going to kill off the guy who can survive, hunt, track and live on his own? LOL. Daryls the one who would survive in a real zombie apocalypse so him being one of the last ones alive and being able to survive this long makes absolute sense and denying this is just laughable.
I probably didnt change many minds but please think this through. Im tired of seeing the daryl hate, it is disgusting and is changing nothing with the show. Get use to it. If daryl does die, then fine he dies, but dont press on for his death every episode when facts are facts and ive just stated why hes lasted this long and why he will last even longer.
