Last Episode Recap:
At the aftermath of the Assault, Michonne goes back to the Prison and lures two walkers as her new "pets". Both also got amputations similar to that of Terry and Mike. She sees a reanimated head of Hershel's and killed him, She later ventures hoping to find a bit of hope especially now that her past is starting to haunt her. In the woods, She massacred the group of walkers she was with including her new "Pet Walkers" that kept her presence masked by them. She later sees a a trail of fresh human activity that eventually led her to reunite with Rick.
Carl became cold towards the now battered Rick and eventually blames him for the death of the friends they are close to him after finding supplies and shelter. Carl then tries to become independent but then admits that he can't after thinking that his dad is dead and have turned. The next Morning the father and son duo had a little talk followed by someone knocking the door.....it is Michonne.
It's a very good episode. A great kick off for the second part of the Season. I really love how the Comics and TV are being packaged into one and ends up real good and the characters are having some solidified development. This is truly an episode where everyone is at the center and not seated in the sidelines. Probably not the best of Robert Kirkman but it's a still a great start.
I applaud Riggs's acting in "After", it may not be the best but certainly of the best. The writers have surely concentrated on characters this season that a plot that has achieved nothing and ends up in disappointment. But personally speaking, I do not like the dialogues that was spurted towards Rick made by Carl. Why? This is because I was raised by a family that shows respect to others no matter wether they are wrong or right and how old or young you are. However, We have to consider that Carl is now exposed and is adapting to the cruel and harsh environment in a post apocalyptic era. And with it comes along of doing the unthinkable.....Think of Ben and Billy from the comics as an example.
With this episode, My fondness towards Carl is starting to grow and somehow I've felt nostalgia as the flashbacks of Carl three seasons ago came surging back and compare it to this season's. I like how he he tries to act independent and tough. I also felt the emotion in the scene where Carl breaks down after having the thought that his father is dead and then turned the same thing I felt on the same moment.
Before I wrap things up on Carl, I would like to share three things that made me laugh in this episode and yes call me the type of person with a strange sense of humor but it can't be helped.
- Loosing a Shoe.
- Eating a large can of Chocolate Pudding.
- The writing on the door.
To be perfectly honest I did not totally feel Rick in this episode (Probably because he spent his screen time in the couch LOL or perhaps because of Carl) except for the final parts starting with him saying sorry to carl, who thought he was already a walker and them having a heart to heart talk the next morning and him laughing with relief and joy after seeing Michonne on the other side of the door using the "magical peephole". Still, I think that Rick is a great man and father who is always there to guide his son in a world overrun by the undead.
Finally her past is revealed! Well, not totally plus it's a nightmare (a weird one) but that is a start at least we know that she had a son and lover. We get to see the softer part of Michonne that we last saw in "Welcone to the Tombs". The Michonne "mini-adventures" is just funny especially in that moment when he sees her look alike (LOL). I hail Ms.Danai's fantastic acting on this, except for the shrieking/yelling/shouting/whatever it is part. I also like her scenes where she sees Hershel's decapitated head and has to kill it afterwards that part gave me back that TFG trauma again, and also her tears of joy moment when she sees that Carl and Rick are safe. I admire Michonne's superb tracking skills, So please stop saying that Daryl is the only tracker of the group because there is a new one in town.
Next Episode: I saw a couple of sneak peeks and it is clear that Cardboard Beth and Captain Squirrels are on it. So now I pray that the whole episode isn't about these two characters......Oh wait, The Trio will be introduced next week! Yay! That would be the only stuff I look forward in the next episode.
Today, We honor those who died:
To avoid confusion, I will be grading the episodes by 10s again. The review last time, which will be linked to all of you later, is graded 3.8 which is equivalent to 8.8. (Rounded Off)
