After the rage and disappointment of the finale wore off, I was left with time to think back on all of season 6. While it had some good moments in my opinion, there where several more that made me wonder what the people behind said moments where thinking.

602 Wolves Leader bleeding

The suspense of the wolves who they where why they behaved the way they did had me psyched. Was this group a nod to the current comic group the whisperes? I had hoped so. Their attack on Alexandria really gave me hope that this group would be a thorn in our heroes side...

Denise 6x14 (8)

Instead we got to see Carols super combat skills, and Morgan's aversion to taking down beings who literally tell him they will kill everyone they hold dear. The wasted potential of this group culminates when their leader decides to foolishly kidnap Denise then get bitten and shot. And nothing but a bunch of dead Alexandria red shirts.

AMC 602 Carol Disguised

I could accept the fact that while Ricks group was moving into an ridiculously untouchable bubble, that it would only be for so long. This was because even in the comics for awhile they had time to breathe. And I had faith that Gimple and crew was giving us a false sense of security.

AMC 603 Glenn Nicholas Surrounded

Then the begining of the gimmicks stole that faith away, the whole Glenn and the magic garbage can was just a drop in the bucket. My main major peeve was the way they built up the back story that would bring Negan into the story.

611 Jesus Explaining

While I like the way Jesus was introduced, loved seeing the Hilltop fleshed out. I really felt they veered too far from the source material and turned our protagonists into very questionable beings. It was hard enough trying to constantly ignore the fact that our main group faced several situations where they should have lost someone. But now they shove down the viewers throats that Rick and the others are no better than the beings that are set up to be antagonists.

Redrick

For me the reason I love The Walking Dead is thought Rick and others have had to do tough and deadly things to survive. They never crossed the line of let's murder before they murder us. Season six changed all of this and worse yet...Turned even Glenn into a murderer. It was hard to watch, even harder to accept but I did because I felt this was the build up to an ultimate villain appearance.

NeganSeason6

And while I do feel Jeffery Dean Morgan can make Negan work. After Sunday nights fiasco I do not trust the show runners not to mess up all the momentum of all out war. They already destroyed the one act that defined just who Rick and crew where messing with. For me it was the crown of shit on top of a season full of crappy decisions.

To me from begining to end season six showed the shame of wasted potential. It also heavily reinforced that some characters were way too influenced by writers who use Deus ex Machina to get them out of situations they should have easily died from.

All these reasons and perhaps others that have slipped my mind are what make this season a major fail for me as a fan.
