Hey, guys! With the season picking back up on Sunday, I figured now is the perfect time to make a blog about what I think may happen.
CAUTION: SPOILERS/RUMORED STORIES ARE BELOW, AS WELL AS MY THOUGHTS. STOP SCROLLING NOW IF YOU DON'T WISH TO BE SPOILED ON RECENT EVENTS/MINOR SPOILERS.
Rick Grimes/Carl Grimes
Episode 9 will center around Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) following the prison assault, on their own, with Rick badly injured. Carl will definitely be taking over a leadership role now, and he will lose something very important to him in the mid-season premiere. Going down the long road, Carl and Rick's relationship will definitely be put to the test, and Rick may not ever get things back to the way they were. I think this storyline will be one of the more dull ones, for the sole reason that I find Carl to be a very boring character, and the actor to not be very interesting or talented as the rest.
Daryl Dixon/Beth Greene
The last we saw of them, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) were escaping the prison together, and have both been featured prominently in promos. In the back-half, I believe we will be seeing more of Daryl's past, learning what he has really suffered and why he is the way he is. One of the more interesting developments I'm looking forward to is Beth's. She just lost her father, and she will be traumatized, and was shown wielding a knife with walkers, and of course, crying. Beth will definitely be seen a lot more and we will get to know her a lot more. I don't see either one of them dying this season, but I wouldn't put it past the writers to kill off Beth, giving her a potential Hunters-themed death.
Glenn Rhee/Maggie Greene
The last time we saw Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan), they were separated. Glenn has been in danger the entire season in every episode, facing the flu and walkers throughout the season. Glenn is on a bus, still sick with a ton of redshirts, and likely, they may return to the prison or just Glenn, as he was seen in the promo fighting walkers in gear at the prison. Meanwhile, Maggie is off on her own following losing her father, not knowing if her sister is alive. Maggie will definitely mask her grief with anger, and become a lot more trigger happy this season. I can see Maggie being the surprising death this season, but it's 50/50, while Glenn will survive (sadly) as he has not gotten any story this season whatsoever, and serves a major purpose in the comics.
We saw Michonne (Danai Gurira) on her own, back at the prison for an unknown reason. This half will feature Michonne prominently, as she will have a major story to resolve, including why she broke down while holding baby Judith. Michonne most likely had either several miscarriages, or she couldn't get pregnant and it turned her stone cold. Michonne will likely survive this season, but after the baby story is resolved, I'm not sure what else the writers can do with her besides a relationship, and those never last long, her being described as "emotionless woman with a katana".
We haven't seen Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) in four episodes, being banished for killing Karen and David. Carol will return and meet up with Tyreese and the children, and this is the story I'm most looking forward to in 4B. I'm almost certain Carol will survive this season for the following reasons:
- She will likely not appear in Episode 9, and her story has merely just begun.
- Gimple will not pull another Andrea and then give her a redemption story and then kill her.
- She has much more story left to tell.
- It'd be merely a waste to give her four episodes in the first half, followed by 4 episodes in the latter half; almost ridiclous and no sense.
We saw Tyreese (Chad Coleman escaping the prison with the kids, and he has been featured prominently in the promos. Tyreese may meet up with Carol, giving the story resolvance. I don't think Tyreese will be as cold as to kill Carol, although he may wind up losing it, and trying to attack her, and being killed by Lizzie Samuels. Tyreese is 50/50, as he could die this season, or he could survive. Meanwhile, Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) ran off with Bob Stookey, and has been seen in merely one promo. Sasha is rumored to be forming a romance with Bob in the second half, and has been seen fending off walkers in an episode. Sasha may or may not die this season, it is up in the air, but she doesn't have much story to her and there is much to develop with, so she could die this half.
We last saw Lizzie Samuels (Brighton Sharbino) and Mika Samuels (Kyla Kennedy) running off with Tyreese, and they were shown in a promo as well. They will be with Tyreese, and Mika is shown shooting something. Mika and Lizzie may turn out to be the killers of Karen and David, as they had a bone-chilling good shot in the mid-season finale, which Carol couldn't have taught them. Lizzie will likely die, and Mika may survive, but will most likely die.
Last time we saw him, Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) getting wounded and leaving with Sasha and Maggie. Bob was shown once in the promo, and is rumored to have a romance with Sasha. I can see Bob being the traitor, and we will finally learn his true intentions and things of that matter. Bob may die this season, I just don't see him having a story going forward.
