I have some different theories...well, more so "what ifs"...and they aren't for Season 4. They are for "what if things were different". So, here are my different theories.

What if Jim had made it to the CDC?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Would things have played out differently if Jim survived the way to the CDC? It's a possibility. Jenner would be able to experiment with him (Jim wouldn't be saved, by this point...but he could still be an asset to Jenner). Things could really have been different. What if Jim WASN'T bit, went to the CDC, and got bit on the way to it? This could have also gained some insight from Jenner.

What if Carl hadn't been shot?

Original question by Kopakamata97

If Carl hadn't been shot, there would be a major plot difference. It would be likely that the group would never go to Hershel's farm (though it is a possibility), meaning that Glenn and Maggie probably would never get together, T-Dog would most likely have been toast, Sophia would never have been found (unless the group came across the barn), and Shane would be a bit less psycho.

What if Rick shot the Woodbury Guard/Shane hallucination before he shot Oscar?

Submitted by a Wikia Contributer

Oscar probably would have killed a few more guards. However, someone would probably end up killing him anyways since Oscar wasn't entirely a big character.

What if Merle had succeeded in killing the Governor?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Merle would survive as long as he had killed all of the Governor's men as well. It would be a possibility that he missed one, and it sneaks up from behind him and kills him. Overall though, Merle most likely would have lived.

What if Maggie died during the second pharmacy run?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Hershel most likely would have kicked Rick's group off the farm, blaming the events on Glenn. Glenn would be depressed for a short while (since the relationship hasn't been incredibly long at this point). Most of his sadness comes from not being able to save Maggie.

What if Lori didn't die during the pregnancy?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Alright...real quick - I know there's a lot of controversy on this topic. I, personally, accept her as dead. Let's continue. If Lori didn't have to have a c-section, would she have survived? It's likely that the answer is 'yes'. This would make the Grimes family a lot happier (and the viewers a lot more annoyed). Rick wouldn't be crazy (he could be a bit on the edge, yes, but not hallucinating or being overall cold), Carl would be a bit less cold (he'd still be a hardened survivor, though), and Judith would know what her mother looked like (she wouldn't know Daddy, now would she? Didn't he turn in Better Angels? Hmm...I could be mistaken...). Overall, the group would be happy, but the fans would not be.

What if Merle didn't cut off his hand?

Original question by Kopakamata97

This could have played out a number of ways. A) The walkers could have busted down the door, eaten Merle, end of story. B) Merle escapes the handcuffs but scrapes his hand up bad in the process. C) He's left up there for days, is dehydrated and starved, and he eventually dies. The group returns to find a dead, sun-dried Merle. D) Nothing happens and he's still cuffed to the roof. He's rescued.

What if the Governor was a hero?

Original question by Kopakamata97

This would be interesting. First of all, Woodbury would become 100% perfect now that their leader isn't a psychopath. As long as everything is going well, we'll probably end the show by season 3's finale. He wouldn't have even considered letting walkers into the community for entertainment - he'd put on theatricals in the Woodbury Theater he has put together. Rather than interrogate Glenn and nearly-rape Maggie, he'd talk with them, have a couple beers, and be warm towards them. Who needs to fight? He says.

What if Amy survived instead of Andrea?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

Amy would be sad at the loss of her sister. She's felt like her sister was never there for her from the start, and this certainly doesn't help her disposition. By the time the group reaches the highway, she's in a relationship with Glenn. She'd probably make it to Season 2, but get killed by walkers on a run with Glenn.

What if Shane was in the coma instead of Rick?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

There'd be no baby Judith...probably. Rick would have done everything to ensure Shane survived. He wouldn't leave his side even though it would be a risk.

What if Jenny had survived and Morgan died?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

Jenny would have just as hard of a time shooting her spouse as Morgan did in "Days Gone Bye". Duane would probably be a lot more open to his feelings rather than putting on a brave face for his dad. In the long run, I don't know that Jenny could kill Morgan. I think Duane would see his mother die, he woud kill his dad, and become a loner. Duane would find shelter. Rick would not have found the stockpile of guns that Morgan had in "Clear", which would effect how the Governor's attack ends.

What if Beth successfully committed suicide?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

Maggie would enter a state of depression; she'd be quiet, irritable, and not herself. Glenn would get shoved aside a lot, and he'd probably feel like he failed her. Hershel would most likely go back into alcoholism full-time and kick Rick's group off the farm in a state of rage.

What if Carl stayed in the house?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Everbody gets on Lori's case for being a bad parent...but was she? Let's say Carl had stayed in the house. Rick and Shane would still be out in the field. Rick would've stabbed Shane and walked away like before...but it would be too late before he turned around to find the turned Shane. Rick would be dead, Carl would be without a father, and Lori would be without her husband.

What if Tomas and Andrew weren't crazy?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

Honestly, I don't think this would affect the plot much more than there'd be more expendables to die in the group. Perhaps Tomas would fill in Shane's shoes as the controversial one...but he'd still get the machete to the head.

What if Axel had his cool beard?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

The zombie apocalypse would end and the world would be sunshine and rainbows as Daryl and Merle frolick through the daisies, Glenn and Maggie are in their food field (Paley Fest, anyone?), and Rick, Carl, and Lori are dancing freely to Beth singing. Everyone else is randomly playing hide and seek.

What if Ed survived Atlanta?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

When Sophia goes missing, Ed wouldn't care to look for her. He'd blame it on Carol. Daryl would witness it, get mad, and probably get in several arguments with Ed. They'd find her in the barn like last time, but Ed wouldn't feel too upset about it. Daryl pounds Ed like when Shane hit him by the quarry. He then knocks the wind out of Ed, and stabs his head repeatedly and is almost teary eyed.

What if Carl went missing and ended up in the barn instead of Sophia?

Submitted by Rick123Axel

Carl, having been scared off by the heard, has run off into the woods. Shane, Rick, and Sophia go out, but Sophia gets shot by Otis. Once arriving at the farm, Hershel takes immediate care of Sophia. Maggie goes out to find Carol, and brings her on horse back. Daryl follows, on foot, running. Once at the farm, Daryl volunteers to go on a run with Otis and Shane to get the medical supplies needed to save Sophia. They come back alive, but Otis has been bit on his forearm. Daryl has tied it off, and they decide to cut off the limb. Sophia comes through. Rick, Glenn, T-Dog, Maggie, and Daryl search for Carl for long periods of time before finding him in the barn. Rick is totally devastated and isolates himself from the group. When it comes time for him to kill Shane, Rick ends up dying from being bit in the juggular by Shane, who has turned.

What if Andrea had made it to the prison before the Governor could catch her?

Submitted by Ulyssestheloner

The prison group would've been able to escape easily. They would have been able to pack up, fill the prison with captured walkers, and leave swiftly. The Woodbury group would've suffered casualties, but the Govenor survives.

What if Shane was not interested in Lori?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Things would've been a lot smoother sailing. First off, there'd be no reason for Rick to get mad at Shane for being after his wife. Shane probably wouldn't have been as insane, either, as most of his craziness was to have Lori. I don't think he'd want to kill Rick like in "Better Angels", so things could've been different. He'd probably go after Andrea full-time though.

What if "Better Angels" had to do with geometry?

Original question by Kopakamata97

Then it would be called "Better Angles" (hey, it is a love triangle between Rick, Shane, and Lori, after all).
