I like Comic Carol way more than TV Carol. She was very unpredictable, interesting, and realistic. It's how many of the weaker people would end up in an apocalypse. I also like the Ben and Billy arc more because it was out of nowhere, but still made sense and was realistically done.

I don't think it's fair to compare the two carols. They are basically two different characters. It's like comparing apples and oranges. they'd had two different stories and backgrounds that really only overlap at her name and Sophia. Also I don't think the comic ben and billy thing made sense. Until that arc I don't really remember ben showing any signs of him being sociopathic. Lizzie, throughout her appearances, show sign of her being unstable and mentally off (bonding with walker, melting down at her fathers death, ect) which lets us see the build up which I think makes for a much more realistic situation.

Really? Rosita, Gabriel, Morgan? All these characters are pretty much pushed to the background  in the comics. Hershel, Shane, Carol.... They are far more developed on TV. Bob.... Appears in two issues only and 13 episodes on TV. Aaron, Nicholas, Jessie.... These characters have way more screentime and are far more noticable. Gareth... although similar to Chris, he at least had some background.  And what's wrong with Glenn, Rick and Michonne? I agree Carl is too soft at the moment.

Rosita, fair enough, forgot about her.

Gabriel, no, I prefer him when he has hardly any screentime. He's too irritating. Seth Gilliam is an ass too.

Morgan. in my opinion, is annoying. He gives me a pain in my head, especially in Clear.

Hershel was annoying until season 4.. Don't get me wrong, I like Scott Wilson, but TV Hershel was irritating..

Shane. In TWD, there is room for one leader, and that is Rick. In season 2, it felt like Shane was the leader. And he was good, but I just prefer comics Shane.

Carol. Okay. Honestly, I love both Carols. And I will admit now, TV Carol is .5% better. But I loved Carol when she was slowly going insane in the prison.

      Aaron, I like him equally.

Nicholas. I hate him in the show with a passion. He is just a pathetic piece of crap.

I forgot about Jessie. Her TV part is better.

BOB? Woah woah, you mean, Bob the drunk who killed a man, dropped the supplies which could have resulted in Glenn and many, many other people's deaths? The man who has had more scrapes with death than anyone? The man who took a major death from the comic and used it himself? Bob is a mess.

Glenn, I preferred the optimist Glenn. TV Glenn is great though.

This isn't TV show Michonne's fault, but I feel comic Michonne is more developed. This is because she's been around twice a long as TV Michonne, though. I love TV Michonne too, both are my favourites in their fields. If Richonne happens, she'll be better than her comic role.

Rick? I think Andrew Lincoln is a phenominal actor, but "CORALLLLL" is a bit irritating. I like both Rick's equally, though.

Oh, forgot the Hunters. I don't like the backstory. In the comics, The Hunters are a creepy, mysterious and cannibalistic group who kill a major character. In the show, they're not creepy or mysterious, and they kill an idiot.

And lmao, I have to disagree 100% with Michonne not being as developed. Yes she may not be at the point where shes at in the comics but if we compare them to where they were now in both mediums I would say shes 100% excelled past her comic status, shes more human in a way instead of being a machine thats intended to kill walkers.

    • In my Opinion:

TV Characters that are Better than their Comic Counterparts:

      1. Morgan Jones I feel the late introduction can only benefit the character as he was sidelined in the comics.

      2. Hershel Greene - Probably one of my favourite characters in the TV Series due to how dramatic of a change they made w/ him due to Dale's absence.

      3. Shane Walsh - Compelling villain, likeable character and not over-used as some other villains.

      4. Carol Peleiter The change her character's been through, I tend to like the more dominant roles, probably thats why she's here.

      5. Rosita Espinosa Already, based upon the Season 6 trailer you can tell the dramatic difference the two counterparts have.

      6. Father Gabriel Stokes I feel the story alone will build up some sort of redemption arc, something he doesn't have a chance to do in the comics due to the vase amount of characters being sidelined and Killed Off-Panel these days. (Can I just add that we haven't seen CS Gabriel in almost 3-4 volumes?!?!)

      7. The Governor - Iconic villain, one that defines both mediums. However, giving him a motive is what pushes TV Governor further for me.

      8. Dale Horvath - I know his absence destroyed my favourite character Andrea, however his subtle exit kind of gave us Hershel and I have to admit, he still made a mark within his short time. Plus Comic Series Dale was just an asshole, something we had in Comic Series Hershel for a while.

      9. Bob Stookey -  When done right, we get characters like Bob. During his 13 episodes I was happy with the storyline he got, a fitting exit and a character that was just subtly placed into the show with so little material to go off on.

      10. Terminus/The Hunters - Overall backstory gave them more depth and purpose for me.

    • Comic Characters that are better than their TV Series Counterpart:

      1. Andrea - Yes, I loved TV Series Andrea and I'll admit that, no shame in it at all. However, we all agree that CS Andrea is far superior. The reason being? She atleast did something that we love her for. I know we almost... ALMOST got her in S2 when she began practising but she got separated... something I dreaded so much because as soon as she ended up in Woodbury it was Game Over, TV Andrea has been ruined by Glenn Mazzara's disatorious reign and hatred towards the actress. However, lets all remember that our Hero, Andrea will remain through the Character of Sasha who I have contemplated renaming to Andrea since TV Andrea is virtually a different character entirely.

      2. Tyresse - I loved, yes I loved Tyresse in Season 3... Season 4A? Ok, I was warming up to him a little more but then 4B happened, destroying Tyresse's Character, the premiere to S5 which turned him into a child, atleast Tyresse in the Comic would beat the shit out of someone and went out nobaly? Not being bit by a goddamn child and sitting on his ass for 45 minutes as Noah ran for Michonne and Rick for what seemed like days? Sadly... Alas, another victim of Cash Whore Dixon.

      3. Abraham Ford - Sadly, I see him taking a similar fate to Tyresse in the TV Show. If Daryl Dixon survives Season 6 (Which he most likely will) I see Abraham's fate being only one option... Death. This is why Abraham Ford in the CS will always be Superior. In the CS, he has memorable moments, a welcoming relationship... In the TV Series we have "Mother Dick" "An Ocean of Shit"... Just these lines is all we'll have to remember him by because Cash Whore Dixon has stolen every moment that was rightfully owned by Abraham Ford.

      4. Carl Grimes - Tbh, the only thing holding me back from placing Carl in the other section is that he hasn't crossed the boarder from Good to Evil. Once he loses that eye, my god will I love the character. Evil Carl is everyones favourite Carl.

      5. Deanna/Douglas MonroeI felt the sudden change in gender wasn't needed, however Tovah's acting is still superb nontheless. However, I feel Douglas had more authority and dominance which allowed me to connect with his character more.

Neutral Characters: (Love both Mediums respectively):

      1. Michonne

      2. Rick Grimes

      3. Maggie Greene

    • The one character I'm definetely sure I prefer from the comics is Lori. I mean, sure, she was a hot-headed bitch at times, but she was also a caring mother and wife, and a responsible one at that. She still made decisions that were for the group's sake, and, oh yeah, she never let Carl out of her sight! She actually deserved living a bit longer than her TV counterpart.

Also, nothing against her actress, I'm sure she's a nice person, but something about her just bugs me.

No, no, I meant that there is just something about the actress' appearance that bugs me. Subliminally. I have no idea what, though.

    • imho, the biggest detrement to the comics is at most times, it just feels like the rick and carl show, which i mean if the comic is made to primarily focus around 2 characters than fine, go for it, but when you make a comic thats only seems like it wants to be focused on 2 characters but then adds in 40+ other characters who don't get nearly enough development because the story is almost always centered around 2 characters, so you almost never get more personal scenes with secondary characters wich usually means they get underdeveloped only to get killed, character development and overall storytelling is what generally puts tv characters in the limelight compared to their comic versions for me, and while yes, cases may prove different (allen, lori, axel etc.) characters like abraham for example in the comic always felt like a trope, like big gruff military man whos there to be the groups muscle, and ocassionally have little sprinkles of characters development and backstory, we didn't really get the backstory and development and defined personality of the tv version. and as for the 2 characters, while they're pretty neck and neck tv show ricks little niches and quirks and andrew licolns performance pushes him over the edge for me, but with carl its pretty neutral for the point in the story.

Well it's realistic that there are people you don't see all the time, because there are a lot of characters, and the comic is mainly about Rick and Carls family and relationship.

They just made Carol an over the top, badass, unrealistic character who I just don't like. I'd rather have the mentally insane Carol from the Comics.

Dwight was more ruined on the introduction side, the episode when he first appeared was really boring to me, because alot of it seems to be just flat out weird.

Nicholas was just extremely ruined. First off, they gave the rebellious side of Nicholas to Carter, and his good side isn't even shown in the TV. He's a coward, and simply a burden to the group. In the Comic, his rebellion made more sense because he was more involved; Carter only appeared in episode. It's also really nice to see Nicholas sacrificing himself for Rick during All Out War, also having a memorable and sad death. But no, in the TV he just shoots himself. Yeah, Glenn and Nick were gonna die anyway, but c'mon.

I can't blame Heath for being bad, because the actor didn't sign a contract to become a main character, because of his other TV show/movies that are in the works. I do like Heath, but he just doesn't have enough screentime which sucks. But again, I can't blame the guy.

Very true, I mean I get people can have opinions, but there are just some characters that are obviously better depicted in the show.

Never said all comic characters are better Kovarroboi, and Glenn sucks in everything.

I like Joe and Gareth and all the other guys but most comic characters are much better than the TV ones.

Well you did say almost everyone from the comic character is better, so that could easily be taken out of context. Plus, Glenn is more badass in the TV show and TV Maggie is the same as Comic Maggie.

    • Personally, I think Ben and Billy's story-arc is much better handled. I mean, think about it. They see both their mother AND father die.  Get attacked by herds and go through the trauma of The Governor. But, it's all so subtle (Up until the cat scene). Ben is seen to be somewhat more violent in the background. (Chasing Billy, waving around sticks etc.) Whereas in the TV Show, it was so obvious that Lizzie was going to kill Mika. There was an entire episode dedicated to her psychotic nature.

        Loading editor
    • IMO, Ben's psychopathic nature just came out of no where, for Lizzie there was build up for it.

Thanks for the info. So...is this considered canon, or not? In "Tell It To The Frogs", the sisters' conversation while fishing implied that their parents were in Florida.

Yes, Survival Instincts is canon, it tells the backstory of Daryl during his first days in the apocalypse.

There's already a poll on the main page between the show, game, comic, and FTWD.

    • Dear the 43 people who voted for the TV version of Andrea.

Please die a slow and painful death, you deserve it for how wrong you are

      It was a rhetorical question.

I love rhetorical questions, maybe somebody will ask me one someday.

Children on the internet are generally perceived as being more dramatic and taking trivial things like online debates too seriously to the point of making death threats (i.e. "Please die a slow and painful death").

Not trying to get involved in the discussion, just providing a useless explanation.

      Yeah, that.

Makes sense I suppose. I'm not a child, but I find that to be a suitable punishment for someone choosing TV Andrea over comic Andrea
