Oh, God... I-- Oh God... I just-- I killed that boy... I killed him.
―Smitty to himself and The Governor about killing Billy Greene.[src]

"Smitty" (real name unknown) is an antagonist and a survivor of the outbreak in Image Comics' The Walking Dead. He is a resident of Woodbury and a member of the Woodbury Army.

Overview[]

Although part of the Governor's army, Smitty is shown to have doubts about what he is doing. Despite being on opposite sides, after he kills Billy Greene, he immediately expresses remorse for his actions and begins to cry. However, the Governor tells Smitty that he should be proud of what he did. Smitty ultimately continues fighting in the battle, though with much reluctance.

Smitty takes part in the prison assault. He survives the first attack and retreats along with the rest of the militia. When Hershel and Billy Greene start to make a run for the prison vehicles parked along the west side of the grounds, Smitty and two other soldiers open fire. Smitty shoots Billy with a direct headshot and is immediately stunned. The Governor walks over and asks him what his problem is. Smitty cries and feels immensely guilty for shooting a boy. Philip speaks calmly to Smitty asks him how many of their own soldiers that boy killed with his rifle? And that he should be proud that he killed him while giving him a gentle shove. He tells Smitty that this isn't over yet and to get himself together.
