Before the outbreak, scythes were often used by farmers with at least one being used on the Greene Family Farm.
Post-Apocalypse[]
Following the barn massacre, the reanimated Annette Greene is discovered to have survived and attacks her daughter Beth. Thinking quickly, Andrea Harrison grabs a nearby scythe and impales Annette through the head with it, finally putting her down.
Carol has started using a small hand scythe by the time that Rick's group finds the prison.
Over a decade later, Hart is armed with a large scythe when representatives of the Commonwealth visit Riverbend.
