The National Guard Compound is a location in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead. The compound is based at a local community college in Los Angeles and serves as a field hospital, a refugee camp for quarantined citizens, and the command post for the California National Guard in Safe Zone India.
Los Angeles, California
Before the military took over, the compound used to be a community college located just two miles away from the El Sereno neighborhood in Los Angeles.
When the California National Guard entered Los Angeles, they set up their base of operations at the community college in order to treat wounded soldiers and civilians from nearby designated safe zones, as well as round up any civilians at risk of infection. Due to its close proximity to Safe Zone India, it may have served as the main command center for this safe zone.
After Nick and Griselda are taken from their home in El Sereno, Liza follows Dr. Exner to the compound where she is recruited to work as a nurse in the field hospital. It is there that she learns about the bites and cause of infection, as she tends to the many wounded National Guardsmen and women. During her search for Griselda, she also finds the holding pens for quarantined civilians, including neighbors from El Sereno as well as Nick, Doug Thompson, and Victor Strand.
When Daniel Salazar freed the undead from the Los Angeles Memorial Arena, he led them toward the compound. As a result, the compound was easily overrun as a couple thousand zombies overwhelmed the fences and soldiers on guard duty. With the zombies flooding the compound, many of the guardsmen, medical staff, and patients found themselves trapped. The transport helicopter from Edwards Air Force Base was aborted, leaving behind a few dozen patients and nurses, including Dr. Exner and Liza. Dr. Exner made the decision for the nurses and non-critical patients to evacuate with the trucks preparing to leave the compound, while she stayed behind and eventually mercy-killed the critically wounded patients. As Madison and her group infiltrated the compound, they helped free the civilians abandoned in the holding pens before reuniting with Nick and Strand. While they are able to flee the compound, Liza is bitten, Griselda is revealed to have been cremated, and dozens of soldiers, patients, quarantined civilians and medical staff are left with an unknown fate as the compound was completely overrun.
