Prior to the outbreak, Hector had been living in the El Sereno community on the outskirts of the city of Los Angeles with his wife Cynthia. They were the neighbors with the Clark, Cruz, Thompson, Tran and Dawson families.
Hector is one of the many people living in the safe zone established by the National Guard in her neighborhood. With the lack of adequate medical care, he has to rely on Liza Ortiz for medicine, medicine which is stolen by Nicholas Clark when Cynthia heads outside to do some gardening. Later, when Liza returns to the Ramirez's house, Hector is gone, having been taken, alongside Cynthia, by Dr. Exner to the National Guard Compound in order for him to receive better medical care.
During his time at the National Guard compound, Hector dies. Although the time of death is unknown, it is possible that Hector dies before the compound is attacked, in which case it is likely his body was burned by Dr. Exner's staff. If not, his death can be confirmed as Dr. Exner mercifully executes every patient who could not move on their own or be easily moved without assistance, due to the impending horde of walkers breaching the compound.
