|Harold Abernathy Gallery|
Harold Abernathy is a character first encountered in Issue 28 of Image Comics' The Walking Dead and is a lighthearted Woodbury cage fighter, who is mildly injured in a fight with another cage fighter, Eugene Cooney.
Almost nothing is known about Harold before or as the outbreak began. He used to be a truck driver. He may have lived in or near Georgia before the outbreak.
He sports a mullet and is enthralled by the sport of cage fighting. He seemed nice, and might have tried to escape from Woodbury with Martinez if he wasn't killed. Dr. Stevens and Rick Grimes refuse to watch his matches, which greatly disappoints him. He knocks out Eugene's teeth during a fight, which greatly upsets him. He is in the middle of the process of removing his bandages when Eugene comes in seeking revenge.
While being patched up by Dr. Stevens, Eugene storms in and fatally stabs him in the neck. Neither Rick nor Dr. Stevens were able to save him. His reanimated body is presumably destroyed, but never had been shown.
This list shows the victims Harold has killed:
- Possibly numerous counts of zombies.

It is clear that Eugene and Harold were not friends, as proven when Eugene aggressively confronted Harold in Dr. Stevens' clinic after having his teeth knocked out by Harold. Their dialogue did not suggest any sort of friendship, and Eugene had no problem sticking a knife in Harold's throat as payback.
They seemed to be on good terms. Although he didn't seem upset, he was greatly shocked after Eugene stabbed him, and panicked when he was unable to save him.
Whilst he was alive, Harold was reasonably friendly to Rick and wasn't hostile whilst they were in the hospital together. Rick was enraged that he was unable to save Harold after Eugene stabbed him.
