Comic Book Icon Robert Kirkman speaks out for the Dan Savage " It Gets Better" Campaign. Kirkman relates his life story or being an outcast chubby high schooler who was comic book nerd and horrible in sports. Watching this interview with "The Walking Dead" creator (season two starting in october on AMC) proves that life does get better after high school.

He started as a small town guy from Cynthiana, Kentucky (like his TWD character Rick Grimes). Kirkman is now a hollywood celebrity hanging out at cool events like The Scream Awards. He is mobbed fans at Comic-Con for his comic books "Invincible", "Haunt", "Astounding Wolfman" and many more in addition to "The Walking Dead".

Kirkman, like his childhood idol Stan Lee, is known for keeping his characters human and gives them strong character arcs. He makes them fallible, even when they are larger than life superhero. Kirkman is a strong supporter of breaking down the stereotypes of GLBT characters portrayed in the media. Kirkman discusses this in the interview, specifically his gay characters "Aaron" and "Eric" from "The Walking Dead" comic who are a couple in the series.

Kirkman's interview was filmed live with host Diana Terranova at the famed Golden Apple Comics in Hollywood, California.
