Pre-Apocalypse

Nothing is known about Ethan's life prior to the zombie apocalypse or as the apocalypse began.
Post-ApocalypseEdit
Hilltop ColonyEdit
Ethan arrived back from a failed mission, where everyone except he and Crystal were killed. He relayed a "message" to Gregory, and then stabbed him. He is tackled by Rick and, during the struggle, was killed by his throat being cut by Rick. Everyone in the Hilltop Colony watched the murder in horror.

Upon returning from a failed mission, everyone was killed except for him and Crystal. Ethan relays a "message" to a fellow resident, Gregory, and then stabs him. Rick tackled Ethan and then killed him, cutting his throat with a knife.

Ethan and Gregory relationship was never shown but it was assumed that it was stable before Ethan returned from his supply run, because of Negan's threats Ethan attacks Gregory and stabs him in the chest which ruined there relationship and cause Gregory to hate him.

Samuel and Ethan may have been friends, as Samuel was seen to be distraught over his death, taking his anger out on Rick.
CrystalEdit
Ethan and Crystal had a very good relationship. After Crystal was caught by Negan and Negan demanded that Ethan attacks Gregory in order to get her back Ethan does so which results in his own death.

- Ethan is the first character in the Comic Series whose introduction and death occurred in the same issue (although Eric and Jim Bridges could be considered as well, Ethan is the first one whose identity was confirmed on-panel.)
- Ethan may have harbored feelings for Crystal. This could be supported by when he's struggling with Rick, he shouts, "Anyone who tries to stop me is killing Crystal", and, "He [Gregory] has to die or Crystal dies!".
