Prior to the outbreak, Cynthia had been living in the El Sereno community on the outskirts of the city of Los Angeles with her husband Hector. They were the neighbors with the Clark, Cruz, Thompson, Tran and Dawson families.
Cynthia is one of the many people living in the safe zone established by the National Guard in her neighborhood. With the lack of adequate medical care, she relies on Liza Ortiz for medical care for her sick husband, an act she is seen to be very grateful to Liza for. However, when Cynthia heads outside her house to do some gardening, Nicholas Clark, suffering from drug withdrawals, enters her home and steals her husband's morphine. Later seen further thanking Liza and Dr. Bethany Exner for their care of Hector, she is later taken, alongside her husband, to the National Guard Compound in order for him to receive better care.
Cynthia's ultimate fate remains unknown following the walker invasion of the National Guard's compound at the community college. Whilst her husbands death can be confirmed, with Dr. Exner stabbing all those of poor health in the head, it is unknown, like many of those inside the compound at the time of the attack, if she survived the breach of the compounds walls.
